Combined or estrogen-only treatment
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is available in two main forms: estrogen-only and combined therapy with both estrogen and progesterone. The combined version is more commonly prescribed, especially for women who still have their uterus, as progesterone helps protect against the risk of uterine cancer. Estrogen-only HRT, on the other hand, is typically recommended for women who have had a hysterectomy, since they no longer face that specific cancer risk. The choice between the two depends on your medical history and individual needs.
